Dr Dicksheet to be awarded the Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services
Five-time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Dr Sharadkumar Dicksheet has been selected to receive the Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services.
The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has been instituted to reward excellence in the field of medical sciences with its comprehensive, dynamic and exciting features to benefit competing researchers, scientists & medical institutions.

H.H.Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Finance & Industry, U.A.E. through his noble initiatives and generosity towards Medicine & Science has allocated US$ 2,170,000 to be distributed for the development of Medicine and Science through the various categories of the award.
Dr Dicksheet who was in Dubai earlier this year to receive the NRIworld-Merrill Lynch NRI of the Year Award will be back to receive another prestigious award on Oct 21, 2002.
Upon hearing the news that he is has selected for the Hamdan Award, Dr Dicksheet said from his home in Brooklyn, New York "I am very grateful to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, the selection committee and the royal family for this great honor for the India Project and myself. This honor will add to the credibility of the work we are dong for the poor children of India. The financial reward will be totally utilized to obtain more medical supplies for the surgery camps. 120 children will have a new lease of life, thanks to the prize money."
Dr Dicksheet expressed great happiness at being able to return to Dubai, "I am happy to be back to Dubai so quickly. The warmth and love I received during my last visit to Dubai is still fresh in my mind. I was touched by the generosity of the good citizens. Dubai is like no other city that I visited and I look forward to being back. I feel as if I am home in Dubai"
Dr Dicksheet also announced his intention of dedicating one of his free Surgery Camps to the name of Dubai's royal family.
The year 2001-2002 has been a precious year in the history of Dr Dicksheet and his 'India Project'. Dr Dicksheet and his project has received prestigious awards starting with the 'Diwaliben Mehta Award' in Jan 2001, The 'Kellogg's Hannah Neil Award For Children' in Dec 2001 and the 'NRIworld-Merrill Lynch NRI of the Year Award' in Jan 2002'. To add to this the Government of India awarded the 'Padmashree Award' to Dr Dicksheet.
While the world has finally begun recognizing Dr Dicksheet's work after 34 years of humanitarian service, the India Project has now achieved a milestone in its service to the poor. This year the number of surgeries performed was 8,614 -the highest, making it greater than those performed by any similar project or organization in the world. The number of surgery camp centers has also increased.
The India Project is the most sincere, honest and helping organization through which patients receive the best surgical care, in the best hospitals by the best and well-trained Plastic Surgeons COMPLETELY FREE.
8,600 surgeries in the USA would cost minimum of 86 Million Dollars. Thanks to generous contributions from sponsors, Dr Dicksheet provides these services COMPLETELY FREE for the poor and needy children of India.
